The protected region for wine production, Nemea, has a history of vine cultivation since ancient Greek times. Due to its fertile soil, Mediterranean climate, and slopes facing the sun or the sea at the right altitude, Nemea is famous for its wines.

Especially for the Agiorgitiko grape variety, that has been certified as a Protected Designation of Origin wine and has been cultivated in Nemea for more than 2,500 years. It gives the most noble wine of the Greek red varieties and is also called The Blood of Hercules because of its deep red color. Agiorgitiko wine has soft tannins and evolves for many years, giving a rich body and long aftertaste. Its aromas are of red fruits and caramelized butter, when young.

On our VIP private tour, we will take you to a unique family winery which combines experience with enthusiasm, and marries the old with the new: traditional methods and advanced technology in vine cultivation and vinification. The owner used to go to the vines as a young boy with his grandfather, who taught him everything about the care of vines without machinery, using methods that don’t affect the vine or the soil in a negative or harmful way. During his professional life, the owner continued gathering knowledge about winemaking and the production of quality wines. When he started his own winery, a dream came true for him. He believes in a ”natural” way of vine cultivation, with the least possible interference in the wine-making process. As a result, he and his oenologist produce a small quantity of superb quality wine that is internationally recognized.

We will take you on a private tour to the vineyards of this family business, at carefully chosen locations on the slopes of Nemea. You will experience how this family winery takes advantage of the soil, the right altitude, the sunlight, the warm summer months with their cool evenings and sea breeze, the best conditions for balanced growth and an environment that gives their wines their particular character and high intensity aromas. You will be amazed by the beauty of the nature of this region and enjoy the view while having a picnic and relaxing at the tree house…

Our tour will continue with a visit to the traditional stone-walled cellars of the winery, built of natural stone from the area, securing a perfect low temperature and little humidity. French oak barrels from well-known French wine houses are used to mature their eclectic wines. The famous Greek painter Georgos Stathopoulos has given an artistic touch to the wines and winery with the exclusive paintings he made for the wine labels. The owner will explain the production and bottling process to you, everything to the highest standards and certified by SWISS CERT, and maybe even unveil one of his secrets…

And last but not least, wine tasting for the few with no limit to the budget: you will taste 3 exquisite wines carefully chosen for you, accompanied by culinary treats. As a “connoisseur”, you will recognize the finesse of long-lasting aging based on the Burgundy wine technique, and be able to taste the fresh aromas and strong characteristics of the varieties of the area. Finally, you will taste the wine that is the crown of this family winery: a special production of a sublime wine of less than 700 bottles per year.
