If you are in North East Peloponnese, before you visit Palamidi, you must do the Seven Villages tour with Grecopaths. Not to say Palamidi is not worth it, but you can see fortresses on a rock like Palamidi in many places in the world, the adventure you get from Grecopaths is unique and the views are just as breathtaking.Biking through Mediterranean villages, rich with olive , pomegranate, apricot, fig, pistachio, orange and many other trees is an experience you can only experience in this part of the world, and Grecopaths is the only company I have come across that does it perfect for out-of-country visitors. Add a downhill stroll on an empty farmers’ road surrounded by olive trees and you feel like you have left this world.Oh, and you just happen to stumble upon a Mycenan tomb and an ancient dam, like the ones you saw on a slide that one time in your Gen-Ed class in college. The only difference is – these ones are off the beaten path and unless you are a local or Indiana Jones, you won’t be able to find it on your own. Even Lonely Planet has missed it, that’s how hidden this experience and the places you visit are.Pair that with random stops to pick figs off a tree (or whatever fruit is in season at the time) and to eat your freshly baked spanakopita, and you have your perfect experience. To say that you get to explore the area like a local would not do it justice to your experience. The guides make sure you see everything a local does, explain every little thing and show you even the local taverns that the villagers hang around in.At the end of the trip make sure you have snacks prepared by Panos, a world renown chef of Peloponnese cuisine, that happens to be involved in this project as well.Stavroula and her team make sure you are comfortable and even if you are not in the best physical shape of your life, they will design an experience that will make you feel the Peloponnese spirit.I also did the Sea to Mountain experience and that was just as awesome! Again, the best way to embrace the Peloponnese people within few hours on your trip. It is only a matter of time before Grecopaths gets discovered and gets closer to mainstream, so make sure you use them until they are still a hidden gem.
