Our day with the GrecoPaths team was unforgettable. I described our party, interests and restrictions to Stavroula, and she planned a day just for us that we could never have dreamed up on our own. Somehow she managed to please ages 6 through 64, meat eaters, vegans and vegetarians, across a range of interests and energy levels, and she even had a back-up plan (thank goodness, because it poured the whole day!). The entire team was exceptional, communicated clearly, was punctual, enthusiastic and accommodating. First, we visited a church built into a cave; then an ancient pyramid; then we drove waaay up into the mountains to an out of the way village for an in-home hands-on cooking class, then to the local taverna for a delicious, elaborate meal and spontaneous dancing! We couldn’t possibly have found or experienced any of this without them, and we felt like locals for the day.We weren’t able to understand how the GrecoPaths team provided us with this experience for the low price we paid; this was far beyond getting value for money, and it turned out that many on the GrercoPaths team are passionate volunteers who want others to experience “the real Greece.” Our day far exceeded our expectations – the itinerary Stavroula sent was accurate but hardly scratched the surface of the depth of joy we derived from our experience. I cannot praise them enough, and I HIGHLY recommend that you put yourself in their hands for the experience of a lifetime!
We just got back from 2 incredible weeks in Greece and this tour was the highlight of our vacation. Our tour guide was Stavroula and the driver was Panos. If you can request them, do it! They were knowledgeable, informative and so much fun. We started with a walking/driving tour and saw sites in Argos that we would never have seen on our own. One of the sites was seeing carpets being cleaned in a natural whirlpool which is how it has been done for the last hundreds of years. We also went to a store in which pasta is made where the locals bring in their own eggs and have the pasta made for them. We then had the most amazing meal of our trip (and we had many amazing meals!) at a tavern in Prophet Helious. We went into the kitchen and made cheese pies and other wonderful things. The tour ended with coffee at a local monastery.
The guides knew many locals and introduced us to them. We met people that as tourists we would never have met. We didn’t feel like tourists, but as part of a wonderful community of very gracious people
Our tour included me, my husband and our 9 year old daughter. I feared that my daughter would not have much fun on a culinary tour, but I was wrong. She called the experience epic. She was very engaged and I was glad she saw a part of Greece that she wouldn’t have without tour with locals.
Before we even got home Stavroula sent us a link to download pictures from our tour.
