I decided to combine my visit to the theater of Epidavros with an alternative tour and Grecopaths organised the perfect one day tour! It included an amazing hiking tour through hidden ancient paths among olive trees, tours to local businesses and tasting of their olive oil and cheese, guidance to the big but also the small theater of Epidavros with explaining the history behind, a wonderful picnic with local products and fresh orange juice in nature near crops of oranges and vegetables! Stavroula is an excellent hostess, with great energy and passion of what she is doing and she shared it with all of us! An amazing experience for all your senses, totally recommended!!!
Wanting a tasting experience that only a local could provide, we hired Grecopaths. Owner and founder Stavroula personally led our tour. Our 3.5 hour tour was really much longer than that and we experienced Nafplio in a way we could never have done on our own. Stavroula is so engaging and personable – it was hard to see the tour end. We felt as if we were saying goodbye to a great friend. The food and drink was superb and the business owners of the establishments went out of their way to greet, sit with us and share their love of food. An amazing day!
We decided to go for a cycling tour ‘from the mountains to the sea’ organised by Grecopaths. Carola joined us as a guide and we had a great time! She knows the history and surroundings of Nafplio really well and showed us some great places. We are experienced cyclists but even if your not you can walk the hardest parts easily, she will adjust the tour to your own pace.
This is probably the best way to explore Nafplio and surroundings, even in February it was warm enough for a quick dive into the sea at the end of the tour.
I was with the group that went to Vlacherna, Arcadia, from where we walked through forests up a steep mountain path for a few hours (and walked back down again, naturally). The environment was beautiful and the views just amazing. Although there were a number of different nationalities present, and not always a lot of common language, everyone was very friendly and we had some fun, messing about in the snow. It was quite an arduous trek; there was a gentler option for those who preferred it. After the walk we had a fine meal in a traditional taverna with live music and some dancing. Everything was well-organised, and these Grecopaths trips make it possible to visit places that would be hard to discover without local knowledge. Full marks to Stavroula, Heracles and the team.
