No better way to start the New Year than a hiking tour in the snow! Followed by the traditional cutting of the New Year’s Pie for Grecopaths.
Sunday 15th of January the Grecopaths Team, the organization of ‘Gate of Peloponnesian Culture’ the team of ‘Argolis.de and friends of them went on a hiking tour to the area of Vlacherna. The Gods were with us and the sun was shining brightly. The group divided into two as the program said. The easy level hike was started from the village to the monastery of Panagia Eleousa through the forest of firs. Great companionship and good conversations during the walk brought us to the peaceful monastery with its remains of Byzantine frescoes. The view was panoramic and the participants enjoyed their snuck under the warm sun.
The more difficult hike was into the mountains of Menalon through also the fir forest. Walking two hours uphill in the forest, and enjoying the snow and spectacular views, took our breath away! Playing with the snow, a lot of photos and the clean fresh air in the altitude of about 1500m made the experience unique.
Back in the village the two groups met again in the local tavern were they played live Greek music for us. Everybody sang along with the Greek songs, or got up and danced. Some even took the microphone themselves to sing a song. The atmosphere was great and got even better when we had three lucky winners after cutting the Grecopaths New Years’ Pie when they got their presents.
Grecopaths Team wishes to all its friends & partners a health, prosperity and 2017 happy paths!
